The first two weeks of spinning were a little rough. That seat made my bottom super sore. I ended up buying a cushioned seat cover and it worked like magic. I started off just spinning 15 minutes a day. After a few weeks I was up to 20 and now I spin anywhere between 30 minutes to 1 hour a day. As my hubby says, 30 minutes is default now; I have to do at least that. So far, this bike has helped me lose almost 20 lbs. Of course I do other things that benefit my body like eating well most of the time, strength training and jogging occasionally, but this bike has made a world of difference for me. It has also toned my legs a ton and decreased the size of my calves. It was definitely worth every single penny.
If you are thinking about buying one, I highly recommend it. I am only 5'1" and it is the perfect size for me with the seat in the lowest position. They are on sale right now at Bayou Fitness, just click the source link above. You may even be able to get it cheaper on Amazon. If you are near a local Sports Authority you can actually try out the bike before you buy it. Let me know; I'd love to hear your opinion of the bike and any story you have to go along with it.
Also, I know some of you may feel a little unsure about trying out a bike, let alone purchasing one. I used to get super intimidated by the spin studio at my gym. The women that walked out after a class were strong, cut and they definitely knew what they were doing. After owning and using the bike for about 5 months now, I can honestly say I wouldn't hesitate to sign-up for a spin class now even though I'm not nearly as small or in shape as half of those girls. So don't let that stop you like it did me for a while. All you need to have is the "want to" and the drive to do it.

I have never been much for exercising just for the sake of exercise! I have always told myself that I get plenty of exercise while I work but I know that isn't true! Especially these days! :) I have been getting a lot more exercise since we started letterboxing though! :) One Saturday, we hiked between 6 and 8 miles! :)
ReplyDeleteTo each their own! A 6-8 mile hike is darn good exercise. I can't wait to start. We finally decided on our trail name: Browning Secret Squirrels. I'm going to work on designing our logo for the stamp today. I can't wait to get started!
